God is Spirit

God is Spirit

An attribute describing God’s being.

Spirituality – God’s spirituality means that God exists as a being that is not made of any matter, has no parts or dimensions, is unable to be perceived by our bodily senses, and is more excellent than any other kind of existence.

John 4:24 – “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

God doesn’t have dimensions, even infinite ones.

Psalm 139:7-10 – Where can I go from thy Spirit?  Or where can I flee from thy presence?  If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there.  If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Thy hand will lead me, and Thy right hand will lay hold of me.

1 Kings 8:27 – “But will God indeed dwell on earth?  Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Thee, how much less this house which I have built!”

So bringing this down to our level:

It’s wrong to make a graven image of God because there is nothing that can really capture an accurate representation of him.

Next, God is huge!  I can’t even come up with the correct words to begin to describe what he is made of.

The coolest part of all:  The huge indescribable God that could easily seem out of touch and too big to grasp wants to commune with you.  He made you personally and he wants you to know him personally.

Take a moment, and close off and meditate on who God is, and where you stand with him.
